I have noticed in photos that my mouth is downturned if I am not smiling. I have some marionette lines but not too terribly bad. I am 50 years old. what would be the best procedure to address my mouth and slight jowls I am beginning to get

Hi @bj1994. I recommend a few units of Botox into the DAO muscle. The injections stop the DAO muscle pulling down the corners of the mouth. Treatment will cause the corners of the mouth to be slightly lifted, giving the mouth a more relaxed, happy, youthful and pleasing appearance. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

way is to try hyaluronic acid fillers like
Juvederm, initially. If you have jowls as well, then you may require a Lower
Face and Necklift to
be done simultaneously with soft tissue fillers to maximize the results on your commissures.

Thanks for your question. Without seeing actual photographs, it is difficult to give a definitive response to your question.  I always recommend patients schedule a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn the best options given by the specialists who know the most about skin as well as the anatomy in the area you are discussing.For what you are describing, most of us would use dermal fillers in this area to replace the volume lost and to help turn the mouth upward.  The fillers most commonly used in this area include Belotero and Restylane Silk.  Other products and procedures may be needed or recommended, but you need to see photos or have an appointment to determine the full optimal results.
