I am a 26 year old woman and in the past few years I have been hearing about using injectables as an alternative to rhinoplasty. My complaints with my nose are that the bridge is wide and undefined from the front view and from a profile view its short/upturned and a lot of my nostrils show - its the pig snout look. I was curious if injectables would be an option to help either/both of these problems and if so I would love some general information on that process. Thanks!

Answer: Non Surgical Rhinoplasty A non surgical rhinoplasty is achieved through the use of soft tissue fillers to improve the contour or volume in the nose. Fillers can be used to correct deformities of the nose, asymmetry along the bridge, visible depressions or to give the nose a little lift. Some surgeons may consider using soft tissue dermal fillers to improve irregularities after rhinoplasty as an alternative to undergoing revision rhinoplasty. There are some issues that cannot be addressed through a non-surgical rhinoplasty. Adding product to the nose will not make it smaller, this can only be addressed through surgery as is the case for decreasing the size of the nostrils.Patients should consult a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in the use of filler in the nose. Someone who is not experienced in the use of filler in the nose can encounter complications that can lead to skin damage or necrosis (skin death) in the nose. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body and is ideal for injection in the skin. If too much of this filler is injected or there are problems with blood flow to the nose, an enzyme (hyaluronidase) can be injected to dissolve and remove the product. All the best,

Answer: Non Surgical Nosejob Candidate-- with Fillers (voluma, restylane, juvederm) I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist to go over your desired results. Facial fillers (voluma, restylane, juvederm) can be used to improve the symmetry of the nose. Surgery would be needed to improve nostrils or overall shape. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
