I had a revision rhino and am still left with a bulbous nose 3 years later. I feel pressure in my nose, it still gets swollen, and has scar tissue build up. I’m looking for a surgeon who has experience with revision to provide their input in whether my nose will remain bulbous due to the nature of my face or do you see potential for it to be improved? Interested in finding a surgeon
Answer: Revision rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining revision rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. Fascial grafts may also be used to help improve tip refinement. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Additional factors that cna lead to a ublbous tip after rhinoplasty is persistent edema swelling in the dead space of the supratip leading to more scarring/fullness.

Answer: Bulbous nose after a revision rhinoplasty! Thanks Caring931772 for your question! I understand your frustration and concern about your bulbous nose after a revision rhinoplasty. It's critical to find a skilled surgeon who can evaluate your unique circumstances and offer tailored advice. When searching for a surgeon, keep the following factors in mind: Extensive experience in rhinoplasty revision: It is essential to choose a surgeon who has a track record of successful revisions since revision rhinoplasty is more complicated than basic rhinoplasty. Expertise in correcting bulbous noses: Seek out a surgeon who can customize their technique to your particular anatomy and who has a thorough grasp of the subtleties of bulbous nose repair. Focus on patient education and communication: The surgeon should calmly address all of your questions, listen to your worries, and thoroughly explain your alternatives. Before and after pictures of cases that are similar: You can get a decent idea of the surgeon's aesthetic approach and possible results by looking at before-and-after pictures of people with comparable nasal characteristics. As a triple Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon and experienced rhinoplasty surgeon, I specialize in revision rhinoplasty. This complex procedure requires meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of facial and nasal anatomy. I am committed to correcting imperfections and restoring both the form and function of the nose. My philospphy is to listen carefully to the goals and desirers of my patients with a focus on patient satisfaction, I utilize advanced techniques to try to achieve natural-looking and long-lasting results. During your consultation, we will assess several factors, including: Skin thickness and elasticity: Thicker skin can make it more challenging to achieve a refined nasal tip. Cartilage structure and strength: Weak or poorly positioned cartilage can contribute to a bulbous appearance. Scar tissue from previous surgeries: Scar tissue can limit the degree of improvement that can be achieved. Based on this assessment, we can provide our expert opinion on whether your nose can be further improved and what techniques would be most appropriate. We should also be able to give you a realistic idea of the potential risks and limitations of additional surgery. The most important element in getting a good result is picking the proper surgeon. When choosing your choice, take your time, investigate the topic, and follow your gut. Hope this was helpful! Best wishes, Dr Ali Sajjadian

Answer: An examination would be necessary to answer your question. Based on your photos, you appear to have relatively thick nasal skin, and a wide nasal appearance. The feasibility of achieving a narrower nasal result, largely depends upon your examination and what procedures were performed by your previous surgeon. When we evaluate patients for revision rhinoplasty surgery, we like to review preoperative photos, and operative reports. Thank you for your question, and I wish you well moving forward. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Answer: Will my nose remain bulbus after I get another revision rhinoplasty? Much more information is needed, such as an in-person examination to determine the thickness of your skin in the nasal tip, and a copy of the operative reports to find out what was accomplished in the first procedure. Thick skin in the nasal tip cannot be changed. If you have thick skin, you'll also require a series of steroid shots to reduce the swelling in the nasal tip itself for several months after the procedure.
