if you're asking about urine catheters (also known as Foley catheters), the answer is we do not use them in practice, since most rhinoplasty operations take about 2 hours in our practice. we reserve the use of such catheters for very long cases or those that require close fluid monitoring but he anesthetist.
I assume you mean using a bladder catheter. I do not routinely do that because the surgery usually does not take more than a few hours. Best of luck.
In our practice, we do not use a urinary catheter for a rhinoplasty procedure. If the procedure were going to last in excess of 6 hours, a catheter might be necessary. Most rhinoplasty procedures take 1-2 hours to perform, so a catheter is totally unnecessary. Choose your rhinoplasty surgeon very wisely based on experience
Do you mean a nasal canulla during surgery, or splints after surgery?Looking forward to your comments to orient better this answer.Thanks.
A urinary catheter is not part of a rhinoplasty. However, in recovery room very few patients cannot void as a result of the anesthetics and narcotics used. A catheter may be interested to drain a full bladder Then its removed and the patient may be cleared for discharge . This is more common people who have known bladder problems or men with enlarged prostates.
I assume you're referring to one placed into the bladder. That would be rare unless the surgery were to last more than four hours which is almost unheard of. There are infrequent situations when the anesthetics relax the bladder so that urine is retained. In this situation a catheter is placed to drain the bladder but usually immediately removed.
Unless there is an unusual situation a catheter is not needed for this procedure. In the event you have multiple procedures, a catheter could be needed. Discuss this concern with your Plastic Surgeon.
