Hi doctors, I’m a 22 year old guy & I’ve had a fringe haircut so never noticed my hairline regularly. Only recently I noticed that my hairline had receded & the hair in general were thinning. Got bloodwork done and all came back normal so its likely Male pattern baldness. I wanted to ask how bad is the condition of my hairline right now? (Is it receding or maturing?) And if it’s receding, will finasteride + minoxidil + dermarolling combo fill in my temples and reclaim the hairline recession?

If you find a low proportion of small hairs, that’s normal. Everyone has that. If you collect all your shed hair over a week and find that more than 10-15 % are tiny hairs, that might suggest there is some androgenetic hair loss too. But finding one hair has no meaning whatsoever.
Not all the hairs on the scalp are the same size and finding some miniaturized hairs are normal. Generally speaking, the number is less than 10 %. Miniaturized and vellus hairs are a normal part of the scalp, it’s just they are not common.
