I guess that this will depend on the size of your implants and you anatomy. However, if you have extra fat on other body areas, then fat transfer might be a better option. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. As a general rule and in my experience custom hip implants should be kept 3cm or less in maximum projection (thickness) to lessen the risks of complications. And like most complications that involve many implants in the body, complications usually end up in their removal.
