Question

I was wondering how long it'll take for my scar to heal and what can I do to speed up the process? My implants were done on 6/2/17, and now it's October. Also how how long will the dark spot from the drain I had on my butt cheek (circled) take to heal?On top of the incision there are small dark spots(circled also), and right in the middle there is like a white circle, feels like a small bump/zit (circled) and I didn't notice til August, what is that? Cant see surgeon, he's in a different country.

Dear Ct,   Thanks for posting your pictures and sorry for your problem. From observing your pictures,  it appears that you have long and wide scar. After 4 months from your surgery, I do not believe that the scar will improve much and if it is troubling you , you will have to ask for scar revision. Wait additional 2-3 months for the scar revision and than return to your surgeon or look for a local board certified plastic surgeon.  It is unfortunate that your scar is so long and in high position. For the sake of future candidates for butt implants surgery, I can tell you that such scars are not necessary. On my patients I use short scar that is placed quite low between the cheeks and is invisible standing up. So, do your due diligence and check the quality of the surgical scar in the photo gallery of butt implants patients.                       Best of luck,                                               Dr Widder

Hi and thanks for the question and photos. Scars take 12-24 months to fully mature and look their best. There are ointments that keep the incision moist and protect it from the sun during this time. Silicone tape also helps with this. Best of Luck - Dr Hardy...

As surgeons we try to put scars in inconspicuous places. The scar placement seems good, but its too early to worry about the scar. We expect the scar to worsen over 6 months,but then start to fade. The more color you have in you normal skin  the more you are at risk for abnormal pigmentation of the scar. Hydroquinone based creams can help remove this. I would waith another 5-6 months to seewhat is happening with the scar, and then, if necessary talk to somebody about a scar revision.Eric Weiss MD
