How long do I have to wait before wearing small studded earrings?

The posterior earlobe piercing may have moved near the incision line and now the earring back irritates this area.  You may just need more time to allow the scar to mature or need a new piercing performed.  

10 months should be ample time for healing and you should be able to wear earrings now. You should see your surgeon, your ears might need to be re-pierced. Good luck!

You should be healed up enough to be able to wear your normal earrings by this time.  Your surgery may have changed the shape of your earlobes, and you may have to try different pairs to find something that works well.  I would address your concerns with your surgeon at your next visit.  Occasionally, the ears may have to be re-pierced.  Best of luck

Thank you for your question, we allow our patients to start wearing earrings within 2 weeks after facelift surgery. The incisions should be healed for you at 10 months post op and earrings should not be an issue. The back of the earrings may be too long or the ear piercing itself may have to be adjusted. I would bring your concerns to your operating physician and have them evaluate. Hope this helps.

You should be perfectly fine to wear earrings, at this stage after surgery.  If you are having irritation, though, when you put the earrings in, I would discuss this with your surgeon, you may need an adjustment to the earlobes or the piercings themselves.  I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin

Thank you for your question. At 10 months after surgery, you should be able to wear whatever you want. However, the scarring around the ear may have changed the cant of the earlobe, so the angle may be different. This may require changing the type of earrings you wear or a surgical revision if you feel necessary. Make sure you discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Best of luck!

Very unusual to happen at ten months. I think the hole has changed slightly with the surgery and that is causing irritation behind your ear. Speak to you surgeon, have him check it and maybe the surgeon can piece the ear in a slightly different, more advantageous position.All the best,Talmage Raine MD

Your surgeon may need to re pierce your ears.  Also, the scar may need to mature to avoid irritating the area.
