I am one month post op and have noticed that my scar is incredibly high across the front (especially on my left side). When I put my underwear on, the entire scar is visible. I can pull them up to cover the center, but the sides are still very visible. There might be enough loose skin above the scar on the right side to pull the scar down, but it's pretty tight on the left side (where it is easily 3 inches above my waistline. There was plenty of skin beforehand, so I am unsure why the scar is so high.

Answer: Sometimes can be done, depends on how much relaxation of your skin you get over the next several months. It is anyones guess as to why your surgeon placed your TT scar "high", but now that you have it, it is a matter of what can be done to try to fix it.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Scar too high Abdominoplasty surgery is designed to flatten the tummy and remove excess tissues. The surgery is performed by separating the overlying skin and soft tissues from the abdominal wall and then the wall is tightened with sutures to restore the youthful tight and flat tummy. The overlying skin is then pulled down like and window shade and the excess skin and soft tissues are surgically removed. The lower abdominal incision is placed below the bikini line to prevent a visible scar. You should review your surgical results with your Plastic Surgeon to ascertain if there may have been technical issues preventing placement of the incision in the ideal location. Good luck with the remainder of your recovery!
