What would be the best procedure, excision or subcision?

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

Subcision can be tried first, if you are satisfied with the result, great. If not you can always do a surgical scar revision.

Your scar is depressed and maybe has attachment to deeper structures. The treatment options depend on the cause of the scar (if is was a cyst, chicken pox, acne or injury) and the examination of the scar (what happens when you smile or the area is moved).Lust by looking at this scar,I would think that the best combination of treatments would be subcision and filler. There is many different fillers but I think that Juvederm or Bellafil would be my two best picks. In any case, you need a thorough consultation and assessment before proceeding with any of the treatments.I hope that helps

There is no one, correct answer for the best treatment of the scar on your cheek.  It could potentially be improved with subcision or excision.  Subcision is a relatively simple treatment and it would be fine to try that first and see if there is any improvement.  If there is no or little improvement, then you could add a filler to see if it can be raised to make the area flatter.  If that does not help, then excision may be needed.
