Is subcision safe or risky for my skin? (photos)

I have been performing subcisions for all kinds of scars, including acne scars, for over two decades. From the photos provided, it appears that some of the scars on your right cheek and a few on the left may have broad enough bases to be amenable to subcison. The narrower based scars and ice pick variety are generally not. Subcision, since it is performed below the surface of the skin, is suitable for all skin types. I am not much of a fan of fat injections nor of PRP and have been underwhelmed with their benefits over the years..Nor am I much of a fan of laser treatments, including fraxels, since their results tend to be inconsistent and variable, and, especially in a person of color, run the risk of permanent hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation.  However, some of the broader-based scars might benefit from the addition of a volumizing filler, such as Radiesse, injected at the time of the subcision or at a subsequent treatment session.Frankly, deep support volumetry, i.e. the diffuse injection of a robust volumizing filler under the entire area of the scars on each cheek, would likely stretch the scars sufficiently to yield an immediate gratifying result, after which other procedures, such as subcision, might still be considered, if necessary.Make sure you seek consultation with a board certified aesthetic core physician. And make sure to ask to see his/her before and after photos.

Yes, subscision is a very safe technique, provided it is performed by a Specialist trained in this procedure- I suggest a plastic surgeon or board certified procedural dermatologist. I do believe that conservative low density but high fluence CO2 laser is safe in your skin type, and ideal, I also concur that you will need some form of dermal filler- either fat, HA filler, or if PRP works, PRP.I am always conservative with my words and expectations, especially with your skin type.
