Will my boobs get smaller over time after breast augmentation?

Question

I am about 2 months post op and I feel like my breast are too big. Im 5'1 and 108 lbs with 415 cc implants on both sides. I sized up a bit because everyone including my doctor said I would lose some size after placing the implant under the muscle, however, most of my swelling has gone down and I still feel like they're still bit too large for my size. Will they continue to get smaller as they continue to settle ???

Occasionally, a patient may feel that her breasts are too large after breast augmentation.  Usually, these feelings subside after several months. It's definitely best to wait a few more months because these implants will definitely continue to settle into place.Based upon your petite frame, and the size of the implants you chose, I imagine that even at 2 months post op you aren't seeing your final results. It takes time for the implants to stretch out the skin of the lower half of your breast.  As this occurs, you'll notice a change in shape of your breasts and less fullness on top.As this process slowly occurs, you may very well find that you really like the size of your breasts.  So try to be patient!

dear Patient: thanks so much for your question.  Two months out is still too early to see your final results.  Eventhough most of your swelling is gone, there is still more stretching and settling of the implant going on.  At six months you will have a better idea of what the permanent results will look like.  Hope this helps!

Dear diazerica95,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 4 days  post op.
Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.
At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS

By two months about 90% or more of the swelling should be resolved and it is unlikely that the weight of the breasts will change much.  The shape will continue to evolve as the implants settle and this often takes 6 months.  The implants at 2 months are usually still sitting a bit high depending on the technique and you will likely lose a bit of the current upper pole fullness.  This shape change can make the breasts seem a bit smaller.  It is always best to wait for at least 6 months after implant surgery before reviewing the shape and overall volume with respect to your original goals from the surgery.

Thank you for your question.  Usually after a few months the breasts will not significantly change in actual volume but they could continue to settle and soften, so their appearance and apparent size could change.  Often they look larger at first because they are sitting so high on the chest.

You may still see some settling and relaxing of tissues in the coming months. Implants in the 400+ range for your height would be expected to probably provide a D cup depending on how much natural breast tissue you have. Did you use a sizing kit or software to simulate results prior to surgery? We find that helps our patients make reliable decisions on implant size and style. If you are not happy with size at around 6 months it would be reasonable to consider revision with replacement with somewhat smaller implants.

At around the 6 month mark is about when you will see your final result, and you may find at that time that you love the size. 2 months is still not quite enough time for your breast shape and size to settle completely.  It can take up to 6 months for this to occur.  I would give it more time to heal and settle.  It will look more natural over time and hang more naturally and thus not look as obvious or prominent.  Best wishes.

Thank you for your question. Your breasts will continue to change in coming several weeks more. Please give about 4-5 months and re evaluate. Sin and muscle will be stretched with time and implant settles by that time.
