Is it OK to use Evolis hair growth tonic for women when one has LPP in addition to AGA?

I have heard evolis products can help treat AGA. However, I am wondering if the inflammation associated with LPP means that I should NOT try these treatments? Do any of the dermatologist hair specialists on this site have any patient experience with evolis? Have you found it to be significantly helpful? The active botanical extracts are poterium officinale, rosa multiflora & swertia chirata. Thank you!

No, this is unlikely to give improvement. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Hello,Women are currently not FDA approved for the use of the ARTAS.  However, our use of the ARTAS does suggest that women who are experiencing androgenic alopecia may be good candidates.  As always, women should have a thorough workup including the following:You  should have a thorough workup including the following:
Trichoscopy- identify type of hair loss Extensive history and labs- rule out other forms of hair lossWe use ARTAS with regenerative techniques with women such as Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and growth factors to help improve overall results.  Although ARTAS is not FDA approved, it can be used off label for this purpose.

I don't think Evolis should help not hinder LPP. It has not been studied formally of course but I don't see any harm not benefit. Like anything, buyer beware.For LPP, one needs to consider topical steroids and calcineurin inhibitors along with steroid injections and oral anti-inflammatories (doxycycline, hydroxychloroquine, methotrexate). These have the potential to really impact the disease. Be certain to see a dermatologist.

I would go back to see your doctor and ask this question.  LLP is a difficult disease to treat and you must have a plan created with your doctor.
