I've been on fin for 16 months now and have just started to see positive gains. However, recently I've noticed that I'm feeling "off" and having difficulty concentrating and with short term memory, and reading. Also suffering from head aches. Can fin be the cause of these types of symptoms?
Answer: Finasteride The most commonly reported side effect of Finasteride is sexual dysfunction -this occurs in roughly 1-2% of users.I have had some patients complain of mood changes and other cognitive alterations but it is difficult to definitively conclude that this is due to Finasteride.I would recommend an evaluation by your physician .

Answer: Finasteride Side Effects It's possible but pretty unlikely. A general fogginess has happened before to a very very very small set of patients but it always set in within a month or two or starting Finasteride, never after 16 months like you're describing. I would talk to your doctor about what else (if anything) could be causing your symptoms before stopping Finasteride and risking the progress you've made with it. Good luck!

Answer: Finasteride side effects Thank you for your question. After 16 months it is unlikely the effects you are describing will be attributed to finasteride. I would begin by having your eyes checked as the symptoms you describe can sometimes be related to diminishing visual acuity. Stress can also result in similar symptoms. You could certainly talk to your physician about coming off the finasteride for several months to see if your symptoms resolve but I would first look for other possible factors causing your symptoms. I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore
