can i use topical steroid for hair growth while on accuatne?

Thank you for your question.  It is fine to use a steroid cream anywhere on your body while taking isotretinoin.  You have me a little perplexed though.  It sounds like you are using a topical steroid for a receding hair line.  Dermatologists use topical steroids for alopecia areata and lichen planopilaris, medical conditions that cause one to lose hair, are inflammatory, and sometimes respond to a topical steroid.  Topical steroids do not induce hair growth for genetic thinning or receding hair.  Best regards, Marla Klein MD
