Pain and new lines on Breast augmentation incision 9 weeks post op. Should I be concerned? (photo)

In general there shouldn’t be new redness along the incision 9 weeks after surgery but this sometimes can happen with the sutures not dissolving as they should. I’d have your surgeon take a look to make sure there is no concern for infection. The scar tissue along the incision will be palpable at 9 weeks which will soften with time. If you use tobacco I’d be concerned about a late infection. Best of luck

The logical explanation for the red lines you see is that they are related to sutures beneath the skin used in the closure.     It appears that you may be having some inflammation as your body is breaking down the suture material, which would also explain why you are having some pain.       See your surgeon for an examination.     It does not look particularly worrisome and will most likely resolve on its own.  

Breast augmentation: pains and lines underneath at incisionFirst,  i hope you have discussed this with your surgeon.  This can be due to the suture material or sometime the lymph channels in this areas will create painful inflammatory bands.   These usually respond to motrin and warm compresses .  Check with your doctor

It looks like it may be stitch marks and should go away or fade with time.
Just followup with your plastic surgeon.

The lines you exhibit are most like from your body reacting to deep sutures used to close your incision. Its best if you follow up with your plastic surgeon.

It is difficult to tell from the photo, but the lines may be an inflammatory response to some of the buried sutures as they dissolve.  It would be best to have your surgeon take a look in person to make sure that there is not anything more serious going on, especially since you note associated pain.

Thank you for your photo. Changes in sensation can be normal throughout the first several months of healing from a breast augmentation. Although it may be normal, other causes of increasing pain may be infection, new bra wear, or recent trauma. The sunken lines may be appearing because the surrounding skin is becoming inflamed or swollen. It is best to have an evaluation by your surgeon to properly assess the situation and give you recommendations or treatments as necessary. Hope this helps!
