I'm 53 years old, have a 34" waist, weigh 162 lbs, am 5' 8" and have small bones. I only have any significant fat around my waist, and even that is not much (Cool Sculpting consultant said I would need 1 treatment of 2 "Lavenders"). I do exercise (walk about 20 miles a week, strength training at home using Bowflex, Select Tech dumbbells, and power tower) and generally eat well. I want to lose 2 inches around my waist but the Consultant wouldn't commit to any weight loss nor inches lost.
Answer: You will lose inches if you are a good candidate The fat you lose during the CoolSculpting procedure is substantial enough to make a visible difference, but usually not enough to budge the scale. If you have pinchable, pullable fat, you will have a smaller waist, maybe not two inches, but you should experience a notable change after 12 weeks. You fit into the category of people that typically seek out CoolSculpting. You exercise, eat right, are fit and close to your ideal body weight, but because of age, are not able to get rid of fat in certain areas of your body. Nonsurgical body contouring is the ideal solution for you. However, you may not be the ideal candidate. This is where the assessment comes in and is really dependent on the experience of the assessor. Hope this helps, Dr. Garry K. Kim

Answer: The point is, you may look slimmer I sympathize with the desire to have some concrete guarantee before making a substantial investment, but the fact that the consultant 'wouldn’t commit to any weight loss nor inches lost' suggests you saw a competent provider. Every person’s body is different and responds uniquely to body contouring treatments. Additionally, neither coolsculpting or any other fat reduction treatment, including liposuction is intended to reduce weight. These are not weight loss treatments. Fat reduction is different than weight loss. Rather, CoolSculpting and treatments like it are intended to contour or sculpt body shape through fat reduction. So even though CoolSculpting is not intended to decrease weight, you may still look slimmer and fitter with coolsculpting. And that’s the point. What I can tell you is, that from the information you provided, you sound like an ideal candidate for CoolSculpting (of course, an in person consultation, which you’ve already gotten, is the only sure way to gauge your candidacy for coolsculpting.) CoolSculpting is intended for active, healthy adults who struggle with stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise. You seem to fit this description, and the waist is a notorious problem area for collecting these stubborn fat deposits, making it one of the most popular areas to get coolsculpting on. Many patients respond very well to coolsculpting and can shed inches off their waistline. But some patients do not. That is why no ethical coolsculpting provider will guarantee you’ll lose inches. Good luck on your decision and Bravo for living such a healthy and active lifestyle.
