Can I use vitamin C serum at night 8 weeks after a mini facelift? (Photo)

Question

8 weeks ago I had a mini facelift, upper eyelid lift C02 laser PRP. At night I was told I could use Vitamin C serum, is this ok?  My skin feels prickly and little blotchy. Is this because of nerves healing after my facelift? Or is it because of the C02 Laser? Or am I having a reaction to the Vitamin c serum. I am worried about damaging my skin.

Hi Mcatania,Thank you for your question and picture.  Every surgeon has his own protocol therefore it would be best if you were to refer to them.  If the Vitamin C is causing your skin to be sensitivity, please stop using, it will not affect the results, maybe your surgeon could find you an alternative product if this doesn't agree with your skin.  All The Best

At 8 weeks, you should be fine using topical Vitamin C on your skin. However, if you are feeling any discomfort, you should stop. You’ve had a major rejuvenation that is going to make you look younger for some time to come. Holding off on the Vitamin C for a few weeks until you are less sensitive will not affect the quality of your skin. I hope this helps.

mcatania.    Best to check in with your surgeon, but as a precaution, I would stop the Vitamin C and see how your skin reacts as you may be allergic to it. Your face needs time to heal in light of the surgery and laser resurfacing. Try using a moisturizer that you have used in the past until you can see your surgeon. Good luck!
