Will microneedling and selphyl help with collagen renewal?

Question

After years of sun exposure and cortisone shots for arthritis, the skin on my hands and forearms is very thin and tears easily. I only wear long-sleeved shirts at this point. I've tried every cream, lotion, retinol product, and vitamin protocol available to no avail. Do any doctors think that microneedling and selphyl might help with collagen renewal and thickening of the skin? Thanks.

If the concern is color change the q switched laser can remove the dark spots safely. The steroid induced atrophy or thinning of skin is difficult to revitalize .The yag laser will also stimulate new collagen. Another option is thermismooth which stimulates new collagen and tightens skin .

Sun damage on the extremities can be a rather frustrating problem to treat! Continue using your SPF and a retinol or hydroxy acid lotion topically on a daily basis. I use micro needling with platelet rich plasma for rejuvenating the face and this could be also done on the forearms and hands. Multiple treatments could be required if your sun damage is more than mild. Therefore, I am also wondering if you and your doctor discussed non ablative fractional resurfacing (such as Fraxel) for your concern. That might work better in some situations such as yours.
