5'6 ft tall, and weigh 235 lbs - Will I be a good candidate for the Gastric Balloon?

I am 46 years old, 5'6 ft tall, and weigh 235 lbs; I have had high blood pressure recently, which I know is because of my weight gain. I weighed in the past around 210 - 214, but I am now my heaviest in past two years. Will I be a good candidate for the Gastric Balloon? I don't want my stomach cut in half.

I think that the gastric balloon can help you lose some weight, the disadvantage that I see is that when you remove it the stomach will be bigger and thicker, which will favor more food to enter and recover the little weight lost, I am in favor of gastric sleeve surgery that has better results in the long term

The answer is complex and you should consider your goals. First is to address any health issues due to excess adipose tissue, in your case hypertension. There may be other issues that would be noticed on bloodwork such as pre-diabetes/diabetes, triglyceride issues, inflammation. When they are present, the goal is to turn these around. 
Gastric balloons are best for patients looking to lose 30-50 pounds in 6-8 months. Patients can continue to lose weight after the balloon is removed by maintaining the lifestyle that was initiated during this time period. The keys are using it as a tool to jumpstart the process and enjoying the fact that a new way of life including healthy foods, exercise, sleep, hydration, meditation is ahead of you which will just keep adding layers of health and happiness. 
The other options you may consider as well is an Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty. This is an FDA approved procedure where no incisions are made and your stomach is "quilted" or stitched through an endoscope introduced through your mouth and permanently "shrinks" your stomach to a 1-2 cup size. This does not cause any nutrient absorption issues and all of your stomach is left in place.

Unfortunately, with this BMI a gastric balloon would not be most recommendable. I understand your apprehension surrounding bariatric surgery, but based on your comorbid diseases and weight loss journery, bariatric surgery is probably the best option for you.
