Thank you for your question.Abdominoplasty, also known as tummy tuck, is not covered by insurance. Panniculectomy is covered by some insurances. Both surgeries are different. An abdominoplasty is a cosmetic procedure, and a panniculectomy is a functional procedure. In an abdominoplasty, excess abdominal skin tissue is removed and plication of the abdominal muscles/fascia is performed to give an aesthetic shape; in a panniculectomy, excess skin is removed to remove the hang in skin.The cost of an abdominoplasty varies per practice. The cost for tummy tuck will vary based upon the demand for the surgeon and the amount of work done.  I  would search for the board certified plastic surgeon who you feel is
most likely to give you the best results and who performs hundreds of
these procedures each year. I would look at patient reviews as well as

Typically, insurance companies do not cover tummy tuck surgeries as they are considered cosmetic. In some extreme cases where a patient has a large pannus (flap of skin hanging from the abdomen) a panniculectomy may be considered for coverage by Tricare if it is not for cosmetic purposes and is considered medically necessary. Panniculectomy surgery is not the same as a tummy tuck. Looking at your photographs above, I would say that it is almost certain that your procedure would be considered cosmetic by Tricare. As for the cost of the procedure, that varies from office to office and would usually be given after you have attended your consultation appointment. Most offices also offer financing if you are not able to pay in full for the procedure at the time of scheduling.

Hi PuraVida66.Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a cosmetic procedure, and so insurance in not likely to cover the costs.  If there is a hernia or other medically necessary surgical procedure that needs to be done, your insurance will cover costs according to your policy.  The cosmetic costs will be up to you.Sek
