Gaping hole where my belly button was. How long will it take to heal with wound vac? Seroma healing time? (photos)

I am so sorry that you are going through this. While it is difficult to speak definitively, from your photos, things don't look that bad. Vac is a great optIon, a miracle machine. Work closely with your surgeon and you should be fine. Good luck.

Dear Sleeva, Your belly button wound opened up completely but the actual stump of your belly button is alive in the depths of that wound.  I believe it will heal and you will get to keep your belly button.  I think it will heal sooner than you think.  The trick is to keep it clean and infection free.  I have no experience with wound vacs and open belly buttocks and I think it will be a challenge to fit one on that small wound but you may not need it for long.  Unfortunately the longer it takes to heal the more scar it will form so it's impossible at this point to estimate how it would look in the end.  Good luck with healing...
