Hi I have had Halo laser 2 weeks back . After 1 week I developed hyperpigmentation patches and severe swelling when started to use retinol and hydoquinone. I stopped both the creams after 2 applications and use topical cortisone for swelling .Swelling is better but hyperpigmentation is still there .WHat should I do?
Answer: Hyperpigmentation after Laser Treatment -- Clear+Brilliant, Aerolase, Genesis, Venus Viva, Cosmelan, DermalInfusion, Skin Care Hyperpigmentation and inflammation after laser procedures is quite common. In general, hyperpigmentation of any kind needs a combination approach of peels like Cosmelan, lasers like Clear + Brilliant, Aerolase and Laser Genesis, radiofrequency treatments like Venus Viva, and constant skin care and sun protection. Bimonthly facials with SilkPeel / DermalInfusion are essential to hydrate, exfoliate and infuse vitamins and antioxidants into the skin. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with an expert in lasers and peels. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Swelling and pigment issues Swelling after Halo is normal and some pigment changes are well. We often use combination therapy of hydroquinone, a retinoid and a steroid for 2 weeks before treatment and will often resume after a week as long as there are no other issues. Wearing sunscreen and protecting the skin from cannot be stressed enough. This will help prevent any worsening of pigment issues. Best, Dr. Ali Instagram: @draliqureshi

Answer: What should I do about this hyperpigmentation after Halo laser? Swelling is normal after a Halo treatment. Some patients can have swelling up to 7-10 days. Starting back on retinol and hydroquinone 1 week post for my patients, is too soon. After a Halo treatment it is normal for the laser to bring up deeper pigment to the surface, that you now see. It is also normal for the laser to darken superficial pigmentation, which will later come off. You can see changes in your skin after a Halo treatment for 3-6 months. It would be best that you follow up with your provider to discuss after care protocols. Hope this helps.

Answer: Halo Aftercare... Stop using using topical cortisone! Swelling is normal post Halo procedure. Swelling will naturally subside within the 1st 7-10days. Sometimes the use of Retinol and Hydroquinone too soon can cause more irritation to the skin. Alastin Skin Nectar is a great pre and post product to use with Halo. You can also introduce a non-hydroquinone product like Kojic Acid to help with hyperpigmentation and slowly go into using Hydroquinone. Please remember, post laser your skin is more tender and sensitive initially.
