Red nose and flaky skin (Photo)

Question

Hi! I had a rhinoplasty 9 months ago and ever since then the skin on my nose and the adjacent cheek area has become flaky and started to come off. As a result my skin becomes red. Why is it happening, is it common and how can it be treated? Thanks.

That is very interesting. Thank you for your question. That is a sensitive area and it may not have anything to do with your nose surgery. First, evaluate if you are using any new skin cleansers or products. Second, if there is pain or itchiness see your surgeon. If you have any foreign materials in your nose besides your own cartilage, a reaction is possible but you would have discomfort and would probably know if gortex or another material were used (it isn't that common). I would see a dermatologist if your surgeon does not think it is related to your nose.
