Severe bruising and swelling post Profound treatment, is this normal?

I had profound 6 weeks ago. My bruising and swelling were severe and took 2 weeks to heal. My festooning , which was to improve post procedure is now worse. I have dark circles under my eyes as well. I look worse then I did prior to the treatment. My doctor says that he has never had this result and there isn't a fix except adding filler. This is quite honestly not an acceptable response. Does anyone have advise?

Hi Lisa,
Sorry to hear about your experience.  Bruising and swelling are normal after Profound RF, swelling usually takes about 5 to 7 days to come down,  bruising usually resolves after 7 to 12 days.It is difficult to make recommendations without seeing photos or examining you.  It is best to discuss your concerns with your treating physician or another facial aesthetic expert in your area.  Dark circles and festoons are difficult problems to treat.  Fillers may help while the expected improvement from your Profound RF treatment occurs over the 6 to 9 months following your procedure.  Good luck and be well.

If epinephrine was incorporated as part of your local anesthesia in order to constrict blood vessels during the procedure then your response may be an indication that your tissues are delicate/inflamed from lack of underlying support.  I have found Profound RF to be a safe and reliable therapy more most festoon but the most severe. Sight unseen(no photos) you may require support in the form of fat grafting; fillers tend to attract water making the swelling worse. The dark circles may be iron staining from the severe bruising and will go away in months time. Hope this helps.

This first generation of RF device uses microneedling at angles, and goes very deep into the skin. Your healing time is normal 10-14 days of bruising and swelling. Hard to comment on the festooning without before and after photos. Profound is not used to treat festooning, but with the oedema and swelling it may make things look initially worse, and may settle in the next 4 weeks. Before and after photos will tell.
