Is it ok to get Profound treatment when I have fillers and Botox in my face?

I had Juvederm and Botox done a week ago, and love the results. My doctor suggested I have the Profound procedure in about a month. What will happen with the Botox and Juvederm? Will they be destroyed in the procedure?

The prevailing know-how is that radiofrequency energy, including Profound RF, does not destroy fillers or influence the longevity of Botox.  I would have to disagree with the earlier comment that Profound RF is painful and requires a long downtime. Performed properly, the discomfort is minimal and the downtime is only about 4 to 5 days. I too have many devices but Profound RF has among the highest patient satisfaction overall. Best wishes.

Hi SandyIdeally patients should have any tightening, lifting treatment prior to having injectable facial fillers (other than Sculptra which is not affected by heat.)  It depends on the area and depth of the Juvederm or other facial filler that you have had and how long ago it was injected whether Profound RF will affect it.  We encourage our patients to have Botox treatment prior to their Profound RF treatment as studies with laser recovery have shown that the results are better when the treated area moves less (new collagen formation is facilitated.) Good luck and be wellDr. P

Yes, it is safe, papers show that RF does not degrade fillers, another paper coming out in late 2017 with histology confirms the case. Profound will not have any negative effects on fillers nor Botox, however the procedure is painful, with a long downtime. I do have this system but hardly use it as there are many alternatives. This opinion is only mine, your doctor may have his or her own view points. Remember, if you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail ( see someone who has lots of devices, this gives you the best METHOD to address your concerns). Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
