Will correcting an overbite change my face for the better?

Question

I have a pretty bad overbite and I was wondering if I got it corrected, would it make me look better? Also my upper and lower teeth seem to hit each other a lot causing pain in my teeth. How much would it cost to fix? I had braces in the past but stopped wearing my retainer after a few months.

The beautiful thing about orthodontics is that treatment can improve both the alignment of the teeth and the appearance of the face.  A good orthodontist will take the face into consideration when treatment planning your case.  If your overbite is as severe as you say that it is, then orthodontics should improve your face as many people with severe overbites have protruding lips and puckering of the chin muscle.  Your best bet is to schedule a consultation with an orthodontist who will be able to present some options to you.  Good Luck!

You have to be carefully evaluated. The surgeon or orthodontist should keep in mind the effects of any treatment on face and bite.
