I am 3 weeks postoperative from a liposuction and bbl and my flanks are very sensitive to touch. I am getting my lymphatic massages twice a week and my therapist is concerned about my sensitivity/pain when she massage my sides. I don't feel pain unless I am touched. Is this normal? Should I be concerned ?
Answer: Sore to the touch Hello! At this point it is normal to have uncomfortable skin sensations. I would not be alarmed and it could take up to 3 months to start to feel better with this sensation. I would continue to massage the area with a body lotion and this massage will help decrease the feeling you are having. Best of Luck!

Answer: Is it normal to still be very sensitive after a liposuction and BBL 3 weeks post op? Numbness and hypersensitivity after liposuction can last as long as six weeks. Massaging to desensitize the areas can be effective. The numbness usually resolves over a several month period and becomes less bothersome and noticeable to the patient. Answer: It takes time Sure it can take time for the lumps/bumps to improve. That is totally normal. In fact it can take up to about 6 months. Intermittent pain and tenderness can also be normal. It should be improving and not getting worse with time. But if you have other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, fevers, chills, redness, etc... then you should call or go in to see your surgeon. I tell my patients to call my office if they have any concerns because I want to catch a problem early should it arise so it doesn't turn into something worse.I hope this is helpful. The bottom line is that you know your body and if you have concerns, you should call your plastic surgeon's office.Good luck!

Answer: Is it normal? Hello Maris08sfm - Being that you are 3 weeks post op, it is vert normal to have these unusual and uncomfortable sensations. You can most certainly continue the lymphatic massages. However, it does take time for the sensations to return to normal, possibly up to 6 months. Follow up with your surgeon regularly and discuss any concerns that you may have. Best wishes in your recovery.
