Numb right side of chin and right lower lip post rhinoplasty + chin implant

Question

In 2018 I had a rhinoplasty and the dr. Suggested a chin implant as well to make my nose look more natural free of charge. I've noticed since then that there is slightly less sensation on my right lower lip and chin only on one side. When pressing on directly below the corner of my lip on my chin, that same side of my chin that the numbness is on, there is a noticeable pain/shooting sensation on what feels like a nerve. I feel like the chin implant may be pushing into my mental nerve.

The fact that you get pain when pushing on the implant might imply that the nerve is not dead, so the question would be: if the implant is removed, might the numbness go away? Seems to me there's only one way to find out. If the implant is made out of silicone, they are not difficult to remove. You'll have to decide how important the appearance of the implant is, and how important the numbness is.

A thorough examination of your mouth chin and neck is usually adequate for determining the good positioning of a chin implant after surgery. Sometimes an axial CT scan of the face is necessary to determine if there is any nerve impingement. If there is, chin implant repositioning to a more favorable location may be considered.
