Just wondering if there could be swelling where injected into chin? I had quite a deep chin crease/mental crease and was also injected into the chin aswell. I have attached a before photo and 2 after photos from straight and side on. Now I think my chin makes my face too long/pointy? Does it look fine? Or will it settle?
Answer: Swelling is likely the culprit Most surgical procedures, injections included, can cause swelling as this it the body's natural response to injury, and surgery is a controlled injury. In addition, most modern fillers are hyaluronic acid based, and this molecule can hold up to 1000x its weight in water! The molecule draws in water to add volume or "fill" the tissues. Characteristics that affect the metabolism of these molecules include the size of the particles, their concentration and the degree of cross-linking. Increases in particle size and cross-linking increase their inital ability to absorb water and will cause more swelling after injection. These same characteristics also increase their resistance to degradation by your bodies native hyaluronidase, making them last longer. Signs of infection of include swelling but are typically accompanied by redness, discomfort, and warmth. If you develop the majority of these symptoms, it would be advisable to return to your physician for evaluation. I hope that helps!

Answer: Swelling after Fillers Thank you so much for the pictures and questions. Swelling after injections happens with most patients; but typically settles down in about 7 days. Your chin looks nice however, you may want to follow up with your injector to be sure that you are happy with it. Best wishes

Answer: Chin filler Hello, It's likely to be swelling and should settle over the next few days. It can take a couple of weeks to settle so unless you are getting any unusual symptoms like pain, progressive redness or any altered skin colour, let it settle down and then go back for your check up. How many mls did you have? I think the shape should settle down but just keep in touch with your injector if you are worried.

Answer: Swelling very likely There is more often than not swelling in the area filler has been injected, even when in the chin. So the result being just swelling is highly likely. If you feel like your filler is perhaps sitting in the wrong spot you can gently massage the affected area to mould it somewhat. The first couple of days in particular will have extra swelling. The swelling can be managed by time & careful use of an ice pack. It can take up to 2 x weeks to see the full effects of the filler. If you are still unhappy with the results at that time your last option would be hylase. Which is a medicine injected to dissolve the filler. Save this as a last resort however. Hope this helps - Always better to contact your practitioner with any concerns.

Answer: Give it 2 weeks Give it two weeks for the filler to settle, as well as letting any bruising and swelling go down. If after two weeks you aren't happy, I'd follow up with your injector. You can always have them inject hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler. Good luck!
