I’ve followed up with my surgeon and he recommends me wait. I’ve had steroid injections at least three times and little change. I’m very unhappy with the outcome and was sure I could trust my surgeon who only specializes in facial surgery. These raised scars hurt and I feel so embarrassed about getting the surgery. Any tips are greatly appreciated, I really hope I can improve the outcome.
Answer: Scarring Thank you for your question. It is impossible to predict how someone will heal after surgery. This is an area of high tension, so keloids are a definite possibility. I would suggest waiting a few more months though before you do any other treatments. Also keep in mind that once you form a keloid, you almost 60% more likely to form another keloid in that area. But knowing that you are keloid former, extra measures should be taken to prevent them from getting too bad.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Keloids after mini-Facelift So sorry to hear about your issues with scar formation, but I’m afraid it appears that you are a keloid former. No one can predict the type of scarring after any kind of surgery. Scar revision is certainly an option for you, but I recommend you wait at least 8 to 12 months after your primary surgery to attain the best possible results. Good luck.

Answer: Keloid Scar After Facelift Thank you for your question. This is a keloid scar which can be a risk of surgery especially in patient with very pale skin or they are more common in people with dark skin, such as people from Africa and African-Caribbean and south Indian communities. I believe if you have tried steroid injections, you should wait about 6-12 months post op after surgery and have these scars removed and replace with new scars. There is still a chance that this could keloid again. Steroid injections and silicone sheet dressing or laser excision followed by monthly intralesional steroid injections alone or in conjunction with imiquimod. All The Best

Answer: Mini-incision facelift scars Sorry to hear about your tough recovery. There are some things that can help your scarring. Steroid and 5FU injections can help. I would also apply topical steroids (prescription strength). There are some lasers that can help and botulinum injections sometimes can help. Be in touch with your surgeon to ensure the best recovery. Best regards.
