Is excessive bleeding normal after rhinoplasty?

Hello and thanks for your question- To answer it, it really depends on what "bleeding heavily" really means. I tell my patients that for the first few days the nose will "ooze." Much after this I don't expect heavy bleeding. It is normal to bleed for up to a week or slightly longer after a rhinoplasty depending upon the type of procedure and the amount of work that may have been done to your septum. That being said, I would avoid blood thinners and make your surgeon's office aware in case they have any additional recommendations.

Sorry to hear this has happened. It is not uncommon to have bleeding after rhinoplasty but it should be self limited and should become more and more infrequent. If you are continuous bleeding then you should contact your plastic surgeon. Good luck!
