Using Biocorneum scar cream, looking for alternatives

Question

I am 5.5 weeks post op BA with inframammary fold incision. I started using Biocorneum at 1 week PO per my surgeon's instruction, twice a day and incisions are healing nicely. I plan to use for 2-3 months as directed. I don't like that Biocorneum contains 4 sunscreen ingredients and has a strong sunscreen smell, as I'm using it in an area not exposed to sun. Is there a scar cream you recommend after I finish Biocorneum for ongoing use that does not have unnecessary ingredients? thank you

. . .  in that patients (especially in the summer) can get more sun than they think through thinner clothes (and non-UV-protected bathing suits), even "under there". Probably won't be as necessary after several months/when fall arrives, and most scarring is determined by genetics/"tincture of time" anyway. I agree with you that I love BioCorneum over other scar gels partly because of its sunscreen coverage, but in an area not exposed to the sun, you can either simply use paper tape or silicone gel. Paper tape is cheap but can sometimes irritate the skin. The silicone scar gel I recommend to my patients is the ScarAway 100% silicone gel or sheet.

SPF protection of a healing scar is a key part of minimizing the hyperpigmentation of sun exposed incision.If you don’t like the spf ingredients, then aloe and zinc oxide is a more simplistic approach, twice daily until the incision is fully matured, typically 3-6months.Best.
