Is it normal not having my monthly cycle 8 weeks after BBL?

I had a BBL 8 weeks ago and my period hasn't started again yet? Is this normal? What could happen? I'm still swollen at areas. Sometimes my lower stomach is bloated and look really big? What should I do? My surgeon said its normal :(

Yes, it is normal to miss periods after surgery as a result of the swelling. Try to avoid salty foods and drink lots of water.

Thanks for the question and provided information as well. 
Yes, is not uncommon to miss one or two periods or be late due to stress of the surgery. But the first thing to do is rule out pregnancy, if you are sexually active.
If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

Your body needs time to heal from surgery. If you're sexually active and have been since having the surgery, checking to make sure you aren't pregnant should be your first step. Surgery can disrupt the menstrual cycle as the body adjusts to the changes and heals. If you have been sexually active without using contraception, you might want to get a pregnancy test.
