Piercings are required to be removed due to the use of cautery devices. These are not typically used in BBL procedures but it is still best to remove piercings for hygienic reasons. Ask your plastic surgeon before the procedure.
For any type of surgery if your surgeon is using an electrosurgical unit to stop bleeding throughout the procedure any jewelry or body piercings are not permitted to be worn. Although during this specific procedure I do not use a cautery device, I instruct the patients to not wear jewelry and remove piercings for cleanliness and to avoid infection.
