Yes, I require all my patients to remove their piercings before any surgical procedure. Most surgeons do. The surgery will only last a few hours so your holes should not close up that quickly.
Piercings are required to be removed due to the use of cautery devices. These are not typically used in BBL procedures but it is still best to remove piercings for hygienic reasons. Ask your plastic surgeon before the procedure.
For any type of surgery if your surgeon is using an electrosurgical unit to stop bleeding throughout the procedure any jewelry or body piercings are not permitted to be worn. Although during this specific procedure I do not use a cautery device, I instruct the patients to not wear jewelry and remove piercings for cleanliness and to avoid infection. Check with your surgeons office to see what their office policies are regarding this.Thank you for your question!Melinda Lacerna, MD, FACS

I would suggest scheduling a consultation with a plastic surgeon in your area for a full evaluation. Without photos it's hard to determine if you are good candidate or not. Good luck!
Do not make price your main consideration. About 25% of my BBL patients seek me out to perform revisions for them. Try to research this to find the surgeon who consistently produces the results you would expect. Look at reviews on this site and see who gets the surgery right...
