I'm 21 years old and had laser liposuction 2 weeks ago and since then my period came 2 days early, extremely light (mostly spotting) and only lasted about 2 1/2 days. Is this normal after surgery?

Each individual’s body responds differently to laser liposuction. Any time a significant amount of weight is lost or gained this can affect your hormones. These changes in hormones can then lead to an irregular period. Also, stress. Stress can cause irregularities in your period, sleep, appetite, etc. Regardless if you are excited or nervous before your surgery, the effect that the emotions have on your body can cause a change in your hormones, thus a delay in your period.  
  
This could be a normal reaction to stress and anxiety, especially if you are not on hormonal birth control. However, I would still go and see your doctor and discuss this. This could indicate some underlying issues, and you want to make sure you’re giving your body the best care while it’s recovering.

Laser liposuction is surgery which is stress. Any stress may alter your cycle. If it persists, you may want to speak to your gynecologist.

Understand that fat cells represent a major focal point of hormone metabolism and function. Therefore, reduction of fat cells over a short period of time especially in large volumes may affect your hormonal balance temporarily. Also, liposuction in and of itself is a form of surgery which can present a "shock" to the system temporarily. See your gynecologist if this persist over the next menstrual period.
