Is laser lipo or cool sculpting suitable for someone with diastasis recti?

Liposuction or cool sculpting is possible but will. It remove the diastasis- that requires deep stitches usually during a tummy tuck.An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to discuss your options and expectations.

Both laser liposuction and coolsculpting can be used in someone with diastasis.  However, the contour improvement will only be related to the superficial or pinchable fat.  There will be less flattening of the abdomen due to abdominal bulging; and there will be no effect postively or negatively to the diastasis.  In general, if you can pinch it, you can get rid of it.   In patients with significant diastasis, a tummy tuck may be preferable for optimizing results.  It is important to have a consultation with a body contouring expert who is experienced in non-invasive and invasive techniques to get an accurate assessment of potential results.  Patients with significant diastasis sometimes have hernias present and should be evaluated for this; coolsculpting should probably not be performed in a patient with a hernia present.

I agree with Dr Wallach. The diastasis does not stop you from reducing the amount of fat in your tummy subcutaneous space with liposuction or coolsculpt. Liposuction is much more complete, but coolsculpt can help thin areas without surgery. If you want the pooch in your tummy corrected caused by a diastasis, then you need a tummy tuck. Patients who need both tummy thinning and a pooch corrected then I do a tummy tuck and lipo of the tummy at the same time.  Discuss all with your plastic surgeon. Good luck.

Laser lipo, coolsculpting, or sculpsure will reduce diet resistant fat bulges.  However, only tummy tuck surgery will bring the diastasis recti back to the middle.

If you are asking can you have lipo if you also have a diastasis, I will say yes.  If you are asking will the lipo improve your diastasis, I will say no.
