You have back creases, probably there all along before your tummy tuck but not examined closely. Your tummy tuck scars are fairly long already. There can always be a transition between the incision and then the skin on the back that wasn't tightened. I use the term "dog ears" to describe a protuberance or "dart" at the ends of the incision that sticks out. I don't really see that happening in your case.
Thanks for your question. From the appearance in the pictures, you do not have dog ears. You have excess skin and some residual fat on your back that is causing your concern.
Dear amelia m,I understand your concern. Based on your photos, it looks like you don't have dog ears. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL, Vbeam, fractional erbium, intralesional IIT, and scar modulation. Start with a combination of Plato's Scar Serum massaged twice daily after one week of epithelialization followed by Luminase/Exfolase. Scar consultation and revision may be recommended. Thank you for your question. It is very common to have swelling and "bloating" after a tummy tuck. At 6 weeks, you may still find a benefit in wearing a Spanx type garment during the day. My patients seem to do best if they wear one that is high waisted. This reduces upper abdominal swelling or...
Your surgeon is correct in stating that no operation gives perfect results. Looking at your pics the Mons is perhaps a bit droopy still with the scar riding a little high. There is also some bulk to your flanks. These areas could possibly be addressed by removing the tissue between...
Thank you for your photo. It is most important to have an in-office examination to determine what is causing the increase in the waist. It could be swelling, extra skin, extra fat under the skin, or fat internally. Depending on the cause, the treatment options will be different. Possible ...
