Poikiloderma of Civatte. What is a good treatment besides IPL?

Question

I have mild to moderate Poikiloderma of Civatte. I have NO brown pigment, only red. I had several IPLs and two V Beams and they did nothing. Is there anything else I could do? Any creams or peels?

Thank you for your question. Treatment of Poikiloderma of Civatte can be difficult, as I am sure you have found to be true. It is also difficult to accurately direct you without an in person consultation. However, I would recommend being on a pigment correcting serum such as Hydroquinone, Lytera 2.0 (Skin Medica product), or PÊCHE Redness Control (Neocutis product). All of these are medical grade products with clinical research behind the products. I would recommend using one of this products in conjunction with IPL/BBL or chemical peel. I would also recommend wearing a medical grade sunscreen daily over the affected area.

Generally IPL or a vascular laser such as V-Beam or Excel-V can be fairly helpful, provided the treatments occur at a proper medical clinic. Along with good sun protection on your neck going forward, you might in the meantime try something like Lytera 2.0, azelaic or glycolic acid, or retinol for some improvement.
