Chemical peel, will my skin become thin or face any other problems after?

Thank you for your question. Chemical peel and other skin resurfacing procedures will leave the skin looking smoother and younger because it takes off the damaged top layers of the skin. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

A carefully chosen chemical peel can treat and prevent acne, and help with acne marks and scars. It temporarily thins the stratum corneum (upper most dead skin layer), but more importantly it thickens the dermis (mid-level of skin). A series of 3-4 peels, followed by 1-2/year peeling is a great maintenance regimen for most people. Your dermatologist can best guide you on which peels you should be having based on your skin type, color, other conditions (e.g. acne), etc.
