How do I know if juvederm was misplaced or moved? The lump on one side of my face seems like it's in the wrong place.

Question

I had juvederm injected into my nasal folds yesterday. I have a lump near my mouth and when I smile you can see the lump plus it creates a hollow effect between the lump and my cheek. On the other side, I have a larger lump which has a oblong shape next to my nose but near my cheek, not my nasal fold. Every time I smile, it creates a deep crease in the fold since the filler seems to have gone to my cheek.

Swelling and dense areas are common for 2 weeks after injections. You could schedule a follow up with your injector to have the area massaged. After 2 weeks your injector can assess the results better and provide the appropriate treatment. I hope this helps. All the best.

Immediately after injection the HA products such as Juvederm absorb water and may look assymmetric or lumpy.  There is also possible swelling from the injection into soft tissue itself.  This lumpy appearance usually resolves in a few days but if it persists after 2 weeks return to the injecting doctor to see if more product is needed to even it out or if some product should be dissolved with Vitrase.

The swelling one normally experiences with Juvederm decreases dramatically by one week, and a little more in the second week.  Why not let a little time pass and then see your physician if the problem persists?

Too early to tell. Swelling happens after filler injections and can make things look a bit off until it subsides. Additionally, Juvederm specifically pulls water to itself right after injection so that is also what's happening. What I recommend is that you leave the area alone - do not press on it. You can move the filler around and make things much, much worse. So let it be. Let the water and swelling subside. And then determine how it looks This can take up to two weeks. Then see your injector for a follow-up. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and
