Is it true Florida only takes 1 liter of fat off ? How much does Dominican republic take off? Sounds like DR is better. I think I need more than 1 liter of fat removed w my TT & lipo flanks. Check my pics and give me a estimate of much fat I need removed. I'm aiming for a small waist (the smallest it can get). Now I'm scared my waist won't be small. Help!!

Answer: Liposuction amounts It is not true that Florida has a limit to 1 L. Generally speaking, plastic surgeons, at least those for performing the procedure safely, will limit the amount of liposuction to keep to procedure safe. However, one can certainly remove more than 1 L without being risky. Once you enter the territory of five or 6 L, this becomes a different conversation, and safety and limits must be discussed. I myself would not suction more than 4-5 L in a single session, and only then in the confines of a certified hospital/surgicenter setting.Having your procedure performed in the Dominican Republic is a bad idea. I myself have treated several patients who have had complications from procedures performed abroad where safety measures are much less strict than the United States. These patients would have been served better too had their surgery done locally, where more rules, regulations, and safety checks are in play, and they are accessible to their nearby surgeon in the case of complications. Saving a couple thousand dollars is not a potentially deforming or life-threatening complication.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA

Answer: The DR???? You certainly need more than a liter removed for your body contour but why on earth would you go to the DR when you live in NJ and have qualified board certified surgeons in the US. The one liter limit used to apply to in- office procedures in Florida. The rule does not apply to many states or if the procedure is performed in the hospital or surgicenter. Risk trumps cost everytime
