When can I shave my head? (Photo)

Question

I’m just over 3 weeks into recovery from FUE procedure. My new hair is just starting to shed, while my existing hair is growing rapidly. Also my donor area is patchy and scraggy looking, so I’m considering shaving it or cutting it as short as possible with scissors through the ugly duckling phase. I’ve heard conflicting reports re when it’s okay to shave one’s head post FUE. Can someone please provide a recommendation. Thanks.

After two weeks you can totally shave your head and it will be fine. The grafts are pretty much healed in by the fourth and fifth day and by the second week, the scalp is completely healed.

It is best to contact your surgeon for post surgery issues and care since all doctors have slightly different instructions.

Thanks for your question. I recommend my patients not to do a shaving on the transplanted area for six month. Only using a scissor will be the best.On donor site shaving is not a problem.But pls get in touch with your surgeon about the post op instructions as each doctor has his/her own regime.

At 3 weeks you can now shave your head as everything should be healed well  by now. All of the crusting should be off of the recipient area as well so you can shave that as well
