I am 27 years old and I lost a lot of weight. My arms and legs are fine but I have A LOT of loose stomach skin that I really want to get rid of. It looks like fat rolls when I wear tight clothes. The problem is...I still want kids in the future. Would that ruin the tummy tuck? I am not planning to have kids until I am 32-33 years old. I don't want to live with this stomach for the next 5-6 years :( but I would hate to do the same surgery again after pregnancy. Any advice? Thank you!

Answer: Will pregnancy ruin a tummy tuck? Thanks for your question. Having kids after a tummy tuck will impact the results of your procedure. I recommend to my patients to have the procedure once they are done having kids. Hope this helps. Please always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Take Care, Dr. Moises Salama, board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: If you plan to get pregnant I wouldn't recommend a tummy tuck first A pregnancy will likely reverse a lot of the positive changes a tummy tuck can offer. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and if someone became pregnant after a tummy tuck the skin would likely stretch out again, causing another tummy tuck to be needed. Additionally, pregnancy would likely stretch out the abdominal muscles causing the "hourglass" results of a tummy tuck to go away. If you think you cannot wait until becoming pregnant to have your loose tissue addressed, then you could have a tummy tuck, just be away that pregnancy would likely ruin all they gains you made with the procedure.
