Is otoplasy to move upper part of ear away from head common or doable?

Question

I know that otoplasty procedures involve pinning ears closer to one’s head. My situation is not that. I’m actually interested in knowing whether it’s common/possible to have part of an ear moved away (not closer) to the head. One of my ears is perfectly fine. The top of the other ear curves inward and is closer to my head. I know that anything is possible, but is my situation common enough that a good number of surgeons would know how to fix in only one session? Thank you.

This is definitely doable by a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in performing cosmetic ear surgery. This would be ear reshaping surgery, which would involve modifying the structure of the ear so that it doesn’t curve inward.

It’s a very unusual problem and not standard way to deal with it. You are far better off achieving symmetry by placing the other ear closer to your head. Trying to move an ear away from the head is probably not going to be very successful. Many plastic surgeons have little experience with a standard otoplasty. It’s going to be tough to find a surgeon who can do what you suggest
