I got my Breast Augmentation+ Lift around a year ago. No complications and fully healed and happy with my results. However, in the last couple days I’ve been getting this strong sharp pain on my right nipple when I touch it or put clothes on or any contact. The pain is right on the scar on my nipple and it’s like a burning sensation. Is this normal a year after surgery? Should I be concerned?
Answer: Pain You may have a small sensory nerve that has become trapped in scar tissue as it tried to heal. I would suggest massaging the area. If needed, your surgeon can inject the area with local numbing to see if you get relief.

Answer: Nipple pain Dear unaluna2022, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Understanding Nipple Pain One Year After Breast Augmentation: Is It Normal? Hi UNALUNA2022, Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about experiencing nipple pain and a sensation similar to bruising one year after undergoing breast augmentation. Your situation certainly warrants attention. I want to clarify that the symptoms you're experiencing at this stage post-operation are not typical. Persistent nipple pain and a burning sensation a year after breast augmentation are unusual and indicate that there may be an issue that needs to be addressed. It's possible that the nerve that supplies the nipple area may have been irritated or affected during your breast augmentation or lift. The pain could be associated with scar tissue compressing or surrounding the nerve. I strongly recommend that you consult with your plastic surgeon to discuss these symptoms in detail. There are various treatment options available, including tissue massage, certain medications, targeted injections, and even acupuncture, which might be beneficial depending on the specific cause of your discomfort. It's crucial to address these symptoms promptly to ensure that any underlying issues are properly identified and managed. Do not hesitate to seek a thorough evaluation from your plastic surgeon. I hope this guidance helps you in addressing your concerns about nipple pain and burning sensation post-breast augmentation. Remember, your comfort and well-being are paramount, and addressing these unusual symptoms is key to ensuring your long-term satisfaction with the procedure. Wishing you the best in your recovery and future health. Sincerely, J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FASMBS, FICS Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon

Answer: Nipple pain This is not uncommon and will go away on its own. It’s due to the implant stretching the nerve where it comes out between the ribs. I recommend ibuprofen and massage
