Can I touch/move existing hair that are in the recipient area after FUE hair transplant?

I had a FUE transplant which included adding density to my hairline. I’m currently 7 days post up, but for the past 7 days I frequently moved my existing bangs around to spray solution on the implanted grafts, check on them, shampoo, move them out of the way, etc... I went to the doctor for a visit today and he told me I shouldn’t even touch my existing hair in the recipient area. How likely did I damage my grafts doing this?

I don't recommend touching your surgery area for about a week after surgery. Touching your head afterwards won't cause permanent damage. But also, you should get contact your doctor first and ask for information.

Hello. Good question! Yes you can move/touch your existing hair to cover up your grafts. Perhaps your doctor advised you not to touch them to be on the safe side so that no damage could be done.

After 7 days the follicles should be well embedded and no damage can be done. The first day or two is really the main time where there is concern. As long as there are no crusts you should be good.

Covering up a hair transplant with your existing hair should never be  a problem. I am not sure why your doctor told you not to do this as I often help my patient style their hair so that the transplant does not stand out
