It is normal to experience shedding after your hair transplant. If you are concerned, follow up with your surgeon as he/she can best assess your recipient area.
Hello,After the HT operation, experiencing shedding is normal and expected. fter the shedding period, the permanent growth begins.
Thank you for your question and photosthe number of grafts a patient will need depends on the thickness of their hair and the extent of their hair loss, which can be determined by the Norwood Scale below.During a hair transplant, grafts are usually removed from the ‘donor area’ located on the back of the scalp and relocated to a balding area. The back of the scalp makes a good extraction area due to the high volume of hair follicles that congregate within that region that are not affected by the balding process. Specialist surgeons will remove a small amount of tissue that can grow hair and relocate it to the desired area of the head without damaging them.
Hello Juv126, Thank you for your message. It is definitely normal to see a lot of hair fall until 3rd month of the recovery. Between the 3rd month and 6th month, the hair fall will be less and it will go back to normal.
Shedding is part of the initial post-op recovery and applies to all hair transplant patients.Although there is no date range about when will that happen, it usually starts from the 10th day or so and lasts for a couple of weeks. Is it not acceptable if you are shedding beyond that point? No, it is still possible. If you are not seeing the roots attached to hairs, I don't think there is anything to worry about but monitoring the progress is essential and your clinic should do it.
Hello. I understand your concern when you see hair falling out. It is normal to have shedding for a few months after a transplant. Be patient and I’m sure everything will be OK, if not consult your surgeon. Good luck to you.
During the growth phase, your hair can grow a few cms per month. At the end of the resting phase, the hairs fall out. The new hair then enters the growth phase. This cycle is maintained by a constant growing and shedding of hair. The result of this is the average person shedding from 50 to 100 hairs each day. Not all hair grows at the same time. As a result, approximately 10% is in a resting phase. On average there are 100,000 – 150,000 follicles on the scalp. Tension on the hair can make the hair shed slightly faster, pulling, combing massage etc. But this is within considered norms for the hair growth cycles.
There are two types of shedding (1) the shedding of the hairs and hairs in the grafts which is normal for the first few months and (2) shock loss which is the loss of native hair and in men this can be prevented with finasteride
Walking in the sun most likely did not damage your grafts. But it would still be best to address your concerns with your doctor. While short amounts of time would not necessarily be a concern in most cases, excessive and ongoing sun exposure can exert a detrimental effect on the follicles....
It is best to contact your surgeon for post surgery issues and care since all doctors have slightly different instructions.
