Thank you for your question. Silicone gel will not build new collagen. It will help flatten and soften scars and help with the coloring. I would not recommend silicone gel after micro-needling as it would not provide any extra benefits. Some things to look into to help build collagen is micro-needling, PRP (platelet-rich plasma), and ultherapy followed with a good skin care regimen. These options will depend on your concerns and skin problems. Vitamin C will help maintain good skin and help give some protection to your skin from what the environment can do to it. Consult with a reputable dermatologist or cosmetic/plastic surgeon who can provide you with all your options to give you the best results.
Silicone gel won't build new collagen. Sculptra is good for rebuilding collagen in combination with other treatments like microneedling. With microneedling, I always combine prp and lasers to get the best results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Hello and thank you for your question. It is important to have a good skin care system that you are doing at home to compliment and support your in-office microneedling treatments. I am not sure that the silicone gel used for scars is the best because these products are created specifically to target scars and not be used all over the face. I would suggest you use products that contain growth factors & peptides that stimulate new collagen and cell production such as Regenica or DefenAge. Hope this helps, Dr. S.
