For new tattoos, waiting 6 to 8 weeks is typically standard before attempting any removal process. You’ll want to wait until the tattoo is fully healed, but also keep in mind that fresh tattoos will take more sessions to remove than older tattoos. Picosure is a great laser to treat tattoos, and darker pigments are easier to remove than colored pigments. You should expect to treat the tattoo over several sessions, each spaced 6 to 8 weeks out. Going forward, I would recommend you to complete multiple in office consultations with board certified experts to discuss your goals. This way, they’ll be able to assess your tattoo and craft a treatment plan just for you. Best of luck!Kian Karimi MD, FACS
